Road Freight & Different Type Of Cargo
The largest part of freight forwarding is road freight, air freight and sea freight. Road Freight is the movement of cargo from one place to another, using a variety of vehicles, including cars and trucks. It is usually less expensive than air or sea transport, but slower and less convenient. It may involve transloading in which cargo is transferred to a different mode of transportation at an intermediate point. In this case, it is referred as a multi-modal transport.
Road freight is the transportation of cargo over land, typically by large trucks. Road freight is often the most economic method of transporting goods over short to medium distances. Some road haulage is done by ordinary drivers or truck drivers with a standard car or truck, but bulk long-distance road-freight transport and very large shipments require specialized vehicles such as containerized cargo, heavy-lift, and tank trucks.
